I was 33 when I stopped sleeping

I was 33 the year I stopped sleeping.

My oldest was three. And every night Id wake up in the dark, certain something terrible was about to happen to her.

There was nothing logical about it.

She was a healthy little girl in a safe house, with a mother who stood in the doorway watching her breathe.

Of course I tried everything to make those thoughts stop.

Meditation. Self-help books. Talking with therapists and friends.

By the end I could have given a lecture on my fear. But I still couldnt stop it.

Then a friend suggested hypnosis. And I thought shed lost it.

I pictured that old swinging pocket watch. And Shaggy from Scooby-Doo shuffling around with his arms out.

But I was exhausted enough to try anything. So I made the appointment.

Not a pocket watch in sight. 😁

A few sessions later, the agitation was gone.

Not better. GONE.

And I was able to sleep again.

I was so grateful, so impressed, I started training to do hypnosis myself.

And when I did, I understood why nighttime was the worst of it.

See, you cant fall asleep on purpose.

Getting out of bed in the morning, that you can force. But falling asleep is a handoff.

Your conscious mind steps back and your subconscious takes over. And you pass through a hypnotic state on the way down.

So if somethings running like a frustrating loop in the subconscious mind, thats its big moment.

The house goes quiet and it finally has your attention.

Meanwhile the sensible part of you is lying there thinking,This is ridiculous. Just go to sleep.

But that cant work, because the part of you thats arguing isnt the part running the pattern.

Thankfully, hypnosis can help delete that pattern at the deeper level.

Its how I got my nights back. And its what Ive done with clients ever since.

So if youre tired of watching the ceiling, lets talk about freeing you from whats keeping you up.
